What We Offer
Curriculum
At Little Gems, we work in accordance with the guidelines set out by the Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) framework (www.foundationyears.org.uk) which inspires children to learn through play.
Timings

We are open 38 weeks a year from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday. Our free nursery sessions are term time only; however parents have the option of using our holiday services.

Staff

At Little Gems, we have a team of dedicated and qualified female staff. Most of our staff have a number of years of experience in nursery and primary level teaching. Some of them have qualifications in Islamic studies as well.

Fees

We provide free part time nursery education for children aged 2-5 years. Our day care charges range from £80.00 to £290.00 per week.

Behavior management

At Little Gems, we have a robust behaviour management policy where behaviour is managed effectively using diversion and episodes are avoided through verbal praise and encouragement. Under certain circumstances we use ‘reflective time’ where the children are supported by adults to think about their behaviour and it’s affect on others.

Settling in..

Children that have never been to a nursery setting may initially find it difficult to become accustomed to the new environment and may take time to settle into the nursery. Bearing this in mind we will try our best to support you in ensuring a smooth transition from home to nursery.

Safety and security

Entrance to Little Gems is via video monitored intercom system. For additional safety of our children and staff, we have placed security cameras in and around the premises.

Lunch and snack

We provide our children with Healthy snacks and drinks during the session. These include fruits, salads, biscuits and milk. However for our full day children parents have the option of providing a packed lunch or can order a hot lunch from the nursery which is prepared with HMC certified meat.

Special educational needs

Little Gems Nursery aims to have regard to the DFES SEN Code of Practice and to provide appropriate learning opportunities for all children. We support the entitlement of all children to a broad balanced relevant curriculum, which is appropriately differentiated where necessary to ensure equal access by all children.

Fire procedures

A planned evacuation procedure is in place in case of a fire. Regular fire practice drills are carried out to ensure that the staff and children are familiar with the evacuation procedures in case of a real emergency.

Outings

At Little Gems we have regular outings to the local park. Children enjoy the outdoor experience and there are many opportunities for their physical and cognitive development. We also take the children for story sessions at the Stamford Hill library. We occasionally have longer outings, for which parents are informed in advance and a written consent obtained.
