About us

Little Gems Nursery was established in April 2011 to meet the demand for an Islamic Early Years provision in the community. With accredition from Ofsted, we offer care and education for children between six months and five years old. We firmly believe that the initial five years of a child's life are critical, and we strive to provide a safe environment, where values and traits are nurtured from an early age, ensuring that children develop a strong sense of their Muslim identity.

Children are like sponges, absorbing everything they encounter, making it crucial to carefully choose their nurturing environment. We hold the belief that 'The best gift that a father gives to his child is excellent education with outstanding upbringing.'  At the nursery, we offer a chance for children to develop a strong educational foundation and the skills to make sound choices in our challenging society.

Our approach to challenges is grounded in dedication, open-mindedness, innovation, hard work, and a passion for achieving our ultimate goal: nurturing a strong and prosperous new generation.

Our organisation offers daycare services as well as 15 hours of free weekly nursery education for children aged 2 to 5 years. Little Gems strive to provide high-quality nursery education in a secure Islamic environemnt, focusing on both moral and academic excellence while also addressing the spiritual needs of children. Our goal is to prepare the children to successfully navigate both school life and life in general.

Our approach

At little Gems Nursery we centre our learning around play. Focusing on play as a primary means of learning, is in line with many educational philosophies and has been shown to be highly effective in nurturing a child's development. Below are a few key points to this approach:

  1. Child-Centered Learning: Little Gems Nursery's emphasis on self-chosen and self-directed play which puts the child at the center of their own learning experience. This empowers children to explore their interests, make choices, and take ownership of their education.

  2. Intrinsic Motivation: Recognising that play is intrinsically motivating means that children are naturally driven to learn through their play experiences. This can lead to more engaged and enthusiastic learners.

  3. Balanced Approach: By combining both free play and structured learning experiences, the nursery provides a well-rounded educational environment. Structured activities can introduce new concepts and skills while free play allows for creativity and imagination.

  4. Skilled Staff: Having skilled and knowledgeable staff members who can observe and understand each child's interests and strengths is crucial. This allows for tailored support and guidance to help children reach their full potential.

  5. Competent Learners: Seeing each child as a competent learner is a positive mindset that promotes confidence and self-esteem. It encourages children to take risks and embrace challenges, knowing they are capable of learning and growing.

  6. Concrete Play Experiences: Planning concrete play experiences means offering hands-on activities that engage a child's senses and encourage exploration. These experiences can include sensory play, experiments, and creative arts and crafts.

  7. Indoor and Outdoor Learning: Providing both indoor and outdoor learning experiences offers children a variety of environments to explore, fostering a deeper connection with nature and promoting physical activity.

By following these principles, Little Gems Nursery is creating an environment where children can thrive and develop a genuine love for learning. This early foundation can have a lasting positive impact on their educational journey and beyond.
